(2) Proposed Subjects under the New Senior Secondary (NSS) Curriculum:
Core subjects: Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics, Liberal Studies
Electives (Tentative): Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information and Communication Technology, Geography, Economics, Business, Accounting and Financial Studies, History, Chinese History, Chinese Literature
(3) Interface of Junior and Senior Secondary Curricula
-
Liberal Studies was introduced into the curriculum of the Junior Forms in the school year 2005-2006, to develop students' generic skills like critical thinking power, and prepare them for Liberal Studies as a core subject under the NSS (New Senior Secondary) curriculum.
-
Certain subjects to be among the electives under the NSS curriculum will be made compulsory subjects in S3 to familiarize students with the nature of the subjects and help them make informed choices at the end of the school year.
-
There is cross-curriculum project learning in S3. The practice enables students to actively apply their knowledge acquired in different streams and further develop the generic skills necessary for the subject of Liberal Studies in the NSS curriculum.
-
'Other Learning Experiences' of students are enriched through Physical Education, Visual Arts Education, Life Education, school assemblies and the life-wide learning day.
-
Talks are organized for junior forms students and their parents to let them have a better understanding of the arrangements for the NSS curriculum and its requirements.
